alchemists came out victorious against HEADSHOTBG after a big fight during the 3 maps and managed to win their second LAN tournament in succession, after getting first place at HadeLAN in Norway 6 days ago.

On their road to the final of WGF, alchemists strolled through the second group stage, then defeated BGDoNLINE in the quarter-final and ENTiTY in the semi-final without dropping a single map on the way. HEADSHOTBG was equally dominant until the final, overcoming mihu and neXtPlease! in their playoff matches, so therefore the final shaped up to be a great clash.

The first map of the final was de_nuke, on which alchemists started quite well and won the first half 8-7 as Terrorists. They then won their CT pistol round, but the Bulgarians retailiated right away with a deagle buy which enabled them to eventually take a 10-9 lead after two eco rounds by the Norwegians. HEADSHOTBG then showed their best and managed to take some close rounds and bring the map to a close with a 16-11 scoreline.

The second map was de_train where alchemists didn't give the Bulgarians a real chance except for the first pistol round, as the final score was 16-5 in favor of the Norwegians. The third map saw HEADSHOTBG make an excellent start with a 10-5 lead as Terrorists on de_inferno, but alchemists didn't give up, managing to equalise the score at 12-12. The last several rounds also went to the Norwegians who in the end made quite a comeback to win the second half 11-3 and overall the last map 16-13.

After the final, we caught up with Gunnar "zEn" Eng, the in-game leader of alchemists, and here is the short interview:

So, you won the event after defeating HEADSHOTBG in the final 2-1. Did you expect such a hard match?

We have played against them before at DreamHack, we knew that they can play really good. They have really good tactics and really, really good flashes. I expected them to play this well, it was not a suprise for us.

Coming into the event, did you expect to finish in first place?

When we saw the really big teams pull out we aimed for 1st place, but we would aim for one of the top places anyway.

Tell us your impression about the tournament and Montenegro overall. You only arrived here yesterday, did you have a chance to take a look around?

It was an ok event, I have no complaints or regrets for coming here. I hope to come here next year too and that some bigger teams will also show up and attract more crowd.

We are staying here until Sunday, we will go to the capital tomorrow and do some sightseeing there.

You now attended two LANs in less than a week, what are your plans for the future, what will you attend next?

Next up for us are Copenhagen Games which we will attend 100%, and after that DreamHack Summer. If any LANs appear in the mean time, we will go if it is possible.

Anything you have to add?

I want to thank our sponsors SteelSeries, Webvert, O4t and Nytt eller brukt. Also, I want to thank my girlfriend who traveled with us to Montenegro :)

In the third place match, ENTiTY overcame neXtPlease! in 2 maps, 16-10 on de_nuke and after 6 overtimes, 34-32 on de_train.
